Curious about your store’s sales of Canadian-authored books? Whether you’re interested in how domestic authors are performing in your store, or how they’re performing across Independents generally, SalesData has the tools you need to benchmark your store’s sales, and compare them to the Independents overall. We’ll also show a few SalesData reports and CataList searches you can use to stay up to date on forthcoming Canadian titles.

Who should attend? Bookstore owners, managers and staff interested in how to audit their store’s sales of Canadian-authored titles and compare them to the indie market.

CIBA's Publisher Picks series is back with its summer edition! We will bring you to the heart of publisher marketing discussions to discover the season's best bets – the books you might not (yet) know you need to stock, but will definitely be glad you have on hand.

The goal of these sessions is to give booksellers an insider look at seasonal releases you need to be aware of, and why these books are going to have buzz this season. The focus is on titles that may be flying under the radar, not on the big-name bestsellers. You'll learn both the why and the how from publishers – why they predict these books will be talked about and how you can best put them in customers' hands.

Publishers will be presenting highlights only, in a speed-dating format.

Who should attend? Bookstore owners, managers and staff to find out upcoming publisher highlights and how to sell them.

    Presenters:

    • Hachette Book Group
    • HarperCollins Canada
    • Penguin Random House Canada
    • Raincoast Books
    • Scholastic Canada
    • Simon & Schuster Canada

The event time is listed as EST.

Much like CIBA bookseller members, independent publishers operate in communities across the country and offer an exciting mix of diverse titles that cut across genres. At the forefront of new Canadian writing and local storytelling, independent publishers produce books that can become your competitive advantage: local authors, unique stories, Canadian content.

Presented by the Association of Canadian Publishers, this panel discussion will introduce CIBA members to just a few of the publishers working in Canada today, and will explore ways that our respective sectors can work together to mutual benefit.

Moderator: Kate Edwards, Executive Director, ACP

        Presenters:

        • Karen Boersma (Owlkids Books)
        • David Caron (ECW Press & Annick Press)
        • Don Gorman (Rocky Mountain Books/The Heritage Group)
