The Booksellers’ List celebrates the top 20 books of each  season—Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter—as voted on by independent booksellers across Canada. Open to books from any genre and country published within the given season, the list reflects the titles creating excitement and conversation in local communities.

A project of the Canadian Independent Booksellers Association, representing over 200 Canadian booksellers and their staff, The Booksellers’ List champions the books driving excitement and conversation in local communities. At a time when book coverage in traditional media is shrinking, TBL offers readers a new way to discover a diverse range of books—recommended by Canadians, for Canadians.

While the twenty books selected for The Booksellers’ List each season are special, our “Top Pick” is the #1 championed book from booksellers, receiving the most votes from across the country.

The Fall 2025 Booksellers’ List was announced on September 1, 2025. Check out the 20 must-read titles chosen by independent booksellers nationwide.

Our Winter 2026 list will be announced on January 6, 2026.
