Ontario Small Business Support Grant

Ontario-based small businesses that have been required to close or restrict their services can now apply for one-time funding worth between $10,000 and $20,000 through the new Small Business Support Grant.

To qualify for the emergency funding, a business must:

  • Have been required to close or restrict services starting Dec. 26.
  • Have fewer than 100 employees.
  • Have experienced a 20 per cent or greater decrease in revenue in April 2020 compared to April 2019 (businesses started after April 2019 can choose a different month for the comparison).

Starting at $10,000 for all eligible businesses, the grant provides businesses with funding to a maximum of $20,000 to help cover decreased revenue expected as a result of the Provincewide Shutdown. Businesses will be able to use the support in whatever way makes the most sense for them. For example, some businesses could use the support to pay employee wages, while others may need support maintaining their inventory.
